Our hospital provides an 18 bed, multi disciplinary intensive care unit, with state-of-the-art equipment. Our highly skilled staff members are able to handle any situation at any given time and to give the patient the best care possible. A staff member of the nursing team cares for each patient, day and night, and will gladly answer all your questions where possible. The equipment surrounding the patient’s bed is not a reflection of the patient’s condition but to assist the nurses wherever necessary. Due to the need for additional beds in ICU for neurosurgical patients, a new ICU has been opened on the 11th floor of Arwyp. The use of the beds was applied for in 2004 and was approved by the Department of Health and officially opened in March 2006. There are currently 18 ICU beds on the 7th floor and there are 26 beds on the 11th floor. There are also 10 neonatal ICU beds and 7 beds specifically for nerosurgical patients. The medical and surgical patients are separated for infection control reasons. NB Please inform family and friends that confidential patient information will not be discussed with them when phoning to enquire. Children under the age of twelve are not allowed in any of the units. Only two visitors are allowed in at any given time and please do not send flowers, fruit or other gift arrangements to this unit. |
