October 2010 was eye care awareness month. During this month the Bridging first years had the opportunity to get involved in promoting the visual health of primary school children. Four learners joined Sr. Kedibone from Ekurhuleni on 4 and 5 October 2010 at Reagile Primary School, Winnie Mandela Section, Tembisa. At the school the learners assisted with eye screening of Grade R and Grade 1 learners. On Monday 4 October, 137 children underwent eye screening and five children of these children were referred for advanced ophthalmology treatment. On Tuesday 5 October 2010, 75 children were screened and one child was referred for advanced ophthalmology treatment. Thank you to the ATI members for their contribution to the health and well-being of the community.
