On Wednesday 30 August 2006 Arwyp Medical Centre hosted its second annual doctors’ golf day. All concerned agreed that the event was a great success. Although a slightly chilly wind tried initially to dampen the enthusiasm of the golfers and the marketing team who were dressed in rather summery matching outfits, the warm weather made its reappearance during the course of the day and everyone made the most of the occasion. Many of the prizes were generously sponsored by some of the hospital’s suppliers including Fresenius Kabi, Ampath, Lancet and Medhold who each sponsored a hole.
A field of 80 golfers including a number of Arwyp doctors and specialists completed the course. Compere Gary Bailey, sports commentator and ex-Manchester United goalkeeper, introduced the evening’s proceedings and led the prize-giving. All the golfers received prizes and the winning four-ball included Arwyp’s Dr. Ken Ingham who was lucky enough to also win the day’s raffle prize – a wheelbarrow full of goodies. The proceeds of the raffle went to Villa La Themba and Chubby Chums, two children’s homes subsidised by Arwyp’s Arry Foundation.
