On 7 August 2008 the EMPD social crime unit coordinated the presentation of a Skills Day for high school pupils of schools in and around Kempton Park at Sir Pierre van Ryneveldt High School. Topics addressed were preventing fires and behaviour if caught in a fire by the Emergency services, K53 pre-trip inspection, the information to be obtained at an accident scene and towing of vehicles by the EMPD and protection at a crime scene by the SAPS. Helene Pieterse of ATI gave a presentation on First Aid on behalf of the Arwyp Medical Centre.
There were +/- 73 grade 9 and grade 10 pupils and a few teachers from 7 high schools who attended. It was the ideal opportunity to lobby for the ATI and brochures were handed to all learners and teachers who were present. The Arwyp Medical Centre also sponsored lunch for the pupils consisting of fresh sandwiches and juice – this was very much appreciated and enjoyed by all.
