Adrienne Bogatie of the ATI compiled the following report
‘Norkem Park Primary School requested Arwyp Medical Centre’s help with the first aid booth at their sports festival 13; 14 &15 March 2009. Approximately 12 schools participated. The events were soccer and netball. All the participants in the festival were between the ages of 10 and 12yrs old.
ATI supplied the students and first aid equipment to run this facility. The marketing department sent tattoos for the children and ATI information leaflets and application forms were handed out. Over the 3 day period Mrs Bogatie, Katlego Mampuru and learners J. Moloto, D.Mosina, M. Mpakoa, R. Lamola, M. Molete, P.H Ndwandwa, B. Sicongwana and T.Chilenge treated 65 casualties. Injuries were cleaned and dressed, strains had anti inflammatory creamed applied and were then strapped. Those with headaches were encouraged to up their fluid intake. The eye foreign bodies were flushed with sterile saline drops and eye injury was iced.’
