The Arwyp Training Institute Student Representative Council held a fundraising drive during the months of July and August. The drive was in the form of a raffle list. All learners received a list and sold tickets of R2-00 each to families and friends. The draw for the lucky number was done on 28 August 2007 at the monthly student meeting and the winner was Benjamin Mokobi who received a Samsung cellphone as his prize.
The handover of his prize took place in the ATI on 18 September 2007. At the prize giving Siphiwe Xaba, a Bridging 1 learner, received a nurse’s watch for being the learner who raised the most money.
The SRC raised R2328-00 and the money will be used to purchase training equipment for the ATI. Together the SRC and the training team will decide what is to be bought from the money.
