A cocktail party was held to launch Arwyp’s new Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory on Tuesday 2 May 2006 in the staff canteen. Among those who joined Arwyp’s management team at the launch were Dr Andre Roodt, a physician at the hospital and cardiologist Dr Jean-Paul Foccart, both of whom will be involved in using the new equipment.
The function was opened by Gerhard van Zyl, a local compere, better known as ‘Dr Ball’ because of his exploits on the golf course. Arwyp’s CEO, Otto Wypkema, gave the opening address in which he mentioned some of Arwyp’s achievements over the years and cited the new equipment as another step on the ladder of Arwyp’s quest for excellence.
Mike Milford of Tecmed, the company which had supplied the Toshiba equipment to the hospital, then said a few words in which he mentioned that Tecmed had supplied Arwyp with its previous catheterization machine.
He said that Arwyp and Tecmed had enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship together for many years and he was glad that this relationship would continue with the acquisition of the new equipment.Delicious snacks were provided by hospitality manager, Veronica Adams and her team with Arwyp’s new chef, Abel Wesi, at the helm.
