Arwyp Medical Centre has recently procured an SLE5000 infant ventilator with high frequency oscillation. For use in the hospital’s neonatal ICU, the machine is used to ventilate neonatal and paediatric patients that require mechanical ventilation and is instrumental in reducing volutrauma which can lead to lung injury in infants. SLE is a world leader in the design and manufacture of neonatal ventilators. Years of ventilation experience have given the company an understanding of the challenges facing clinicians when caring for the tiniest and most critical babies. In the SLE5000 the high frequency oscillation is powerful enough to cater for a wide range of patients from 300g to 20kg depending on lung mechanics. The technology in the unit is a large step up from the old knob type units and the machine has a touch screen and state-of-the-art modes of ventilation.
